Your Next Opportunity:

As our next Manager of Works, you will have the opportunity to oversee all aspects of the Council’s construction and maintenance works, including 6 direct reports, with the overarching goal of ensuring all work is carried out to the highest standards.

Your continued commitment will be instrumental in shaping the infrastructure and landscape of the Shire of Trayning, making a lasting impact on our community and the region as a whole.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Effectively managing and supervising the total Works Program in terms of quality, timeliness, internal training and budget parameters, utilising the Shire’s workforce and contractors
  • Ensuring a safe workplace is maintained and that there is compliance with Workplace Health and & Safety legislation
  • Monitoring productivity of labour and plant, ensuring all works staff efficiently carry out their duties and follow instructions

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

To be considered for this position, you’ll need at least two years of prior leadership experience in Construction, Maintenance, or related industries. Prior experience working in a Council or Local Government environment will be highly regarded, but not essential.

To thrive in this role, you’ll have highly developed communication skills which allow you to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, team members, and community members. You’ll be someone who enjoys hands-on work, who can roll up your sleeves and work alongside your team as needed to ensure work is completed on time and within budget. 

  • Additional requirements include:
  • Current valid HR class drivers licence
  • Experience in the construction and maintenance of roads for local authorities or private contractors
  • Experience in footpath and drainage construction and maintenance works
  • Relevant surveying qualifications
